Abstract(s)
Enquadramento: A ciência da enfermagem forense combina a abordagem clínica à pessoa vítima de violência com a investigação relativa à procura de vestígios dessa situação. O enfermeiro está numa posição única para identificar, avaliar e cuidar das vítimas e para fomentar a preservação, recolha e documentação de vestígios com relevância médico-legal. Desta forma, torna-se imperioso dotar os estudantes de enfermagem, na qualidade de futuros enfermeiros, de conhecimentos sobre os princípios das ciências forenses, de modo a promover a sua aplicação na prática clínica de enfermagem, assegurando o respeito pelos direitos das vítimas e contribuindo para a aplicação da justiça.
Objetivos: Avaliar o nível de conhecimentos sobre práticas de enfermagem forense em estudantes de enfermagem; Descrever a relação das variáveis sociodemográficas, académicas e da formação em enfermagem forense com o nível de conhecimentos.
Métodos: O estudo transversal, de natureza descritiva foi realizado numa amostra não probabilística por conveniência, constituída por 190 estudantes do curso de licenciatura em enfermagem, 78.9% do sexo feminino, 49.5% do 3º ano e 50.5% do 4º, com uma média de idades de 22.44 anos. O conteúdo do Questionário de Conhecimentos sobre Práticas de Enfermagem Forense - QCPEF (Cunha & Libório, 2012) foi construído com base na revisão da literatura e sujeito à apreciação de um juiz externo perito na área.
Resultados: A maioria dos estudantes pontuou com conhecimentos de nível bom (40%), sobretudo o sexo feminino (42.7%), os de 4º ano (49%), os detentores de formação curricular (55.5%) e aqueles com formação extracurricular (62.7%) na área. O conhecimento de nível insuficiente verificou-se em 36.3% dos estudantes e o suficiente em 23.7%. O ano do curso, a frequência de formação curricular e de formação extracurricular na área influenciam o nível de conhecimentos. Verificou-se défice de conhecimentos sobre: aspetos práticos da preservação de vestígios (uso de sacos de papel); prestação de cuidados aos agressores como um dos focos da enfermagem forense; os traumatismos e o acidente de viação poderem corresponder a casos forenses; a possibilidade de vidros, tintas e fezes constituírem vestígios forenses. A maioria dos inquiridos não experienciou situações de colheita e preservação de vestígios, não contactou com protocolos médico-legais, não realizou trabalhos nem detém formação curricular ou extracurricular na área.
Conclusão: As evidências encontradas realçam a necessidade de se investir na formação e sensibilização dos estudantes sobre a importância das práticas de enfermagem forense, sobretudo quanto aos aspetos em que revelaram défice de conhecimentos, capacitando-os para a adoção de boas práticas. Esta pesquisa iniciou o estudo psicométrico do QCPEF, porém, recomenda-se a realização de outras investigações a fim de prosseguir a validação.

ABSTRACT Context: The forensics nursing science combines the clinical approach to the person who is a victim of violence with the investigation related to the search of traces of that situation. The nurse is in a unique position to identify, evaluate and care the victims and to encourage the preservation, gathering and documentation of traces with medical-legal relevance. So, it is imperative to provide the nursing students, as future nurses, of knowledge about the principles of the forensic sciences, to promote its application in the nursing clinical practice, ensuring the respect for the victims’ rights and contributing to the justice application. Objectives: Evaluate the level of knowledge over forensics nursing practices of the nursing students; describe the relation of the social demographic, academical and training variables in forensics nursing with the level of knowledge. Methods: The cross sectional study, of descriptive nature was performed in a non probabilistic sample by convenience, formed by 190 students of the course degree in nursing. 78.9% female, 49.5% of the 3rd year and 50.5% of the 4th year, with mean ages of 22.44. The content of the Knowledge Questionnaire over Forensics Nursing Practices – KQFNP (Cunha & Libório, 2012) was built based on the literature revision and submitted to the appreciation of an external judge, expert in the area. Results: The majority of the students scored with good level of knowledge (40%), especially the females (42.7%), the ones of the 4th year (49%), the holders of the curricular training (55.5%) and the ones with extracurricular training (62.7%) in the area. The knowledge of insufficient level occurred in 36.3% of the students and the sufficient in 23.7%. The year of the course, the curricular training frequency and the extracurricular training in the area, influences the level of knowledge. There was a deficit of knowledge over: practical aspects of the traces preservation (use of paper bags); care of the aggressors as one of the focus of forensic nursing; the trauma and the road accidents be able to correspond to forensic cases; the possibility of glass, ink and faeces constitute forensics traces. The majority of the respondents didn’t experienced situations of gathering and preservation of traces, didn’t contact with medical-legal protocols, didn’t performed works and does not hold curricular or extracurricular training in the area. Conclusion: The evidences found enhance the need of investment in the training and awareness of the students over the importance of the forensic nursing practices, particularly concerning the aspects in which reveal a knowledge deficit, enabling them to adopt good practices. This research began the psychometric study of the KQFNP, however, it is recommended the performance of other investigations in order to proceed the validation.
