Tem três objetivos gerais, nomeadamente, analisar os conceitos teóricos das ferramentas do pensamento Lean Kaizen evidenciando a sua relevância para as organizações do terceiro setor, estudar o estado atual da implementação do pensamento Lean Kaizen neste contexto e avaliar o impacto da implementação do pensamento Lean Kaizen nestas organizações. Por sua vez, estes objetivos gerais ramificam em nove objetivos específicos. Usou-se uma metodologia quantitativa que pretende obter respostas a um inquérito por questionário enviado às 160 organizações que desenvolvem a resposta social de ERPI no distrito de Viseu. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza exploratória e de diagnóstico. Os resultados da investigação permitem entender que há um grande desconhecimento sobre o pensamento Lean Kaizen, ainda que alguns dos seus princípios sejam, de modo isolado, usados no dia-a-dia das organizações.This research studies the implementation of Lean Kaizen thinking as a management practice in social economy organizations (OES), focusing on the case of Elderly Care Facility (ERPI) in the district of Viseu. It has three general objectives, namely, to analyze the theoretical concepts of Lean Kaizen thinking tools highlighting their relevance for third sector organizations, to study the current state of the implementation of Lean Kaizen thinking in this context and to evaluate the impact of the implementation of Lean Kaizen thinking in these organizations. In turn, these general objectives branch out into nine specific objectives. A quantitative methodology was used, aiming to obtain responses to a questionnaire survey sent to the 160 organizations that develop the ERPI social response in the district of Viseu. This is an exploratory and diagnostic study in nature.
