Politécnico de Leiria.http://hdl.handle.net/10400.19/7432his paper presents a study with three future mathematics teachers (FT) from the early years (preschool and elementary education), at the beginning of their training, with the aim of knowing: if they feel they have a sense of humour and if they appreciate it in others; if they had mathematics teachers who used humour; if they consider mathematics teaching compatible with the use of humour; how they appreciate mathematical tasks based on graphic humour. The analysis of the data collected through a questionnaire with open-ended questions and resolutions to a task leads us to the following conclusion: The FT feel that they have a sense of humour and appreciate it in others. Although there were no teachers who used humour to teach mathematics, they feel that it can be a valuable tool for teaching the subject as it creates a good class atmosphere, draws students' attention to mathematical concepts, and facilitates communication among students. The proposed task based on graphic humour was welcomed by the FT, considering that it has didactic potential.porHumourMathematicsPre-service teachersHumor na formação de professores que ensinam Matemática nos anos iniciaisjournal article
