Neste estudo de caso implementou-se um questionário e realizaram-se entrevistas que permitiram a recolha de dados junto de 94 participantes. Os resultados obtidos permitem concluir que os alunos passaram a maior parte dos seus dias ligados à Internet para usarem redes sociais e enviarem e receberem mensagens. Em termos do uso de dispositivos, usaram preferencialmente o telemóvel e referiram uso frequente do computador portátil. Na opinião destes estudantes, a Internet destacou-se pelo facto de ter permitido a continuação do ensino/trabalho e também por ter servido como solução para manter contacto com amigos e familiares ao mesmo tempo que servia como disseminador de informação relativa à pandemia. A pertinência e o principal contributo deste estudo passam, entre outros, por permitir a caracterização de hábitos e práticas de acesso e uso da Internet num período tão particular como o dos confinamentos provocados pela pandemia COVID-19.This article presents the results of an investigation involving students from the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (PIV), which sought to understand the trend regarding Internet access and use by IPV students during confinement in Portugal. In this case study, a questionnaire was implemented, and interviews were conducted to collect data from 94 participants. The results show that students spent most of their days connected to the Internet to use social networks and send and receive messages. Regarding the use of devices, they preferably use their mobile phones, followed by their laptops. In the opinion of these students, the Internet stands out for having allowed them to continue with their education/work and also for having served as a solution to keep in touch with friends and family while simultaneously serving as a disseminator of information regarding the pandemic.
