V Congresso Iberoamericano de Educação Matemática, Porto: APM (Edição em CD-ROM).http://hdl.handle.net/10400.19/1171In this communication we discuss the contributions, for the professional development, of a collaborative research project carried out by four teachers (three primary teachers and a college teacher), throughout approximately two years. This project, which focused on the mathematical communication, involved reflection and inquiry into problems detected by the teachers in their practices. Professional development is analyzed from the point of view of reflection (forms and interests) as well as of communicative practices and didactic knowledge. In order to describe and to analyze the teachers’ classroom practices, they had to identify patterns of interaction and ways of communication, in narrow association with the didactic knowledge that is associated with them. The results show significant professional development of the teachers, not only in their practical and didactic knowledge, but also in their pedagogical reasoning, through reflection and, above all, through inquiry.
