A poesia da escuta dos paratextos em Regresso a casa

Abstract

Este artigo centra-se no papel fundamental dos paratextos no livro-álbum de Akiko Miyakoshi Regresso a casa, encarado como tela onde ecoam representações do silêncio e da ternura, acolhendo os leitores e incrementando o prazer de ler. Assim, o artigo norteia-se pelos seguintes objetivos: i) indagar os modos como os silêncios que permeiam as ilustrações narram reencontros de chegadas a casa, investigando os processos de inferência que deles resultam, motivando as crianças para a leitura; ii) compreender o papel da representação dos espaços erguidos no cruzamento das ruas da cidade com as casas que aí ganham corpo, abrigando quotidianos e rotinas tecidas de solidão e/ou ternura. Para cumprir estes objectivos, centramo-nos nos paratextos do livro-álbum, de modo a descobrir a confluência de vozes e de silêncios que os permeiam, reapresentando-os e valorizando-os como mobilidades do pormenor que captam a imaginação dos leitores. O artigo conclui sublinhando a importância de encarar os paratextos como poesia que dá abrigo a serenidades, permitindo escutar silêncios guardados em espaços do quotidiano. Ao sussurrarem ternuras que alimentam os leitores, os paratextos instigam o prazer de ler, abrindo múltiplos caminhos de fruição que podem ser partilhados com as crianças, reiteradamente, a cada releitura deste livro-álbum.

This article focuses on the fundamental role of the paratexts in Akiko Miyakoshi’ picturebook The way home in the night, viewing it as a poetic canvas where representations of silence and tenderness echo, welcoming readers and fostering reading for pleasure. Thus, the aim of this article is to shed light on: i) the ways in which silences that pervade the illustrations narrate reunions of arrivals at home, investigating the processes of inference that result from them, nurturing childrens‘ reading motivation; ii) the role of the representation of the spaces raised at the intersection of the city streets with the houses that take shape there, welcoming daily life and routines made of loneliness and/or tenderness. To fulfill these aims, we focus on the paratexts of the picturebook, in order to discover the confluence of voices and silences in the spaces they travel through, re-presenting them and valuing them as mobilities of detail that capture readers’ imagination. The article concludes by underlining the importance of paratexts as means of poetry that welcomes serenity, making it possible to listen to silences kept in spaces that involve us in our daily lives. By whispering tenderness that nurtures readers, paratexts welcome reading for pleasure, opening multiple paths of fruition that might be shared with children, repeatedly, each time they reread this picturebook.
