Abstract(s)
independentes a idade, o género e a institucionalização.
61% é do género feminino e 39% do género masculino. Contam-se 39 sujeitos
institucionalizados (26 rapazes (67%) e 13 raparigas (33%))e 40 sujeitos não
institucionalizados(22 rapazes (55%) e 18 raparigas (45%)).
Index for Children and Adolescents (ERICA) traduzida e aferida para a população
portuguesa por Reverendo e Machado (2011) e a escala Satisfaction With Life Scale
No âmbito
estatisticamente significativas.
A adolescência, a regulação emocional e
The literature review points to emotional regulation as a mechanism of everyday life, closely linked to access and control of emotions. However, there is still a bibliographical gap in the relationship established between this and satisfaction with life. The purpose of this study is to quantify the correlation between emotional regulation and satisfaction with life, such as the relationship with some variables inherent to the sample (age, institutionalization and gender). The sample - selected through a nonprobabilistic methodology of convenience - has a total of 79 children aged between 9 and 16 (M=13.09, S.D=2.26) where 61% are female and 39% are male. There are 39 institutionalized subjects - 26 boys (67%) and 13 girls (33%) - and 40 non-institutionalized subjects - 22 boys (55%) and 18 girls (45%). There were administered two instruments to the participants: the Emotion Regulation Index for Children and Adolescents (ERICA) translated and measured for the Portuguese population by Reverendo and Machado (2011) and the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) scale translated and measured for the Portuguese population by Simões (1992). In terms of life satisfaction, no statistically significant differences were found in relation to gender and age. In the field of institutionalization, highly significant values were recorded. Regulation with life registers highly significant differences in the scope of institutionalization and assumes values that are not significant for gender and for age.Through correlational tests, significant positive mean correlations were found between emotional regulation and life satisfaction. Although the results were not always compatible with the literature and if the limitations of the sample were excluded, it was intended with this study leave a small contribution in a future perspective. Adolescence, emotional regulation, and satisfaction with life are complex concepts involving many dimensions and as such their study will take a sure place in a constantly evolving contemporary society
