- Cooperation University Industry: A Systematic Literature ReviewPublication . Figueiredo, Natália; Fernandes, CristinaKnowledge and its transference are increasingly viewed as key factors of companies' competitiveness. In this sense, our research aims to analyze how the knowledge transfer takes place between the higher education sector and the companies. Although there has been an increase in research related to University–Industry (U–I) cooperation, the existing literature is still relatively fragmented and lacks a comprehensive view. In this way, this study aims to ¯ll this gap by reducing the existing gap in the literature. Thus, this study aims at identifying the di®erent trends and themes prevailing in the literature on U–I cooperation. Through a systematic literature review, using a bibliometric analysis, we identify four themes: (1) Triple Helix, (2) Knowledge Transfer, (3) Determinants of Cooperation and (4) Strategic Alliances. This research makes several important contributions: this review helps highlight not only what the previous literature has analyzed about cooperation between U–I but also prepares the ground for the second wave of research on this topic, synthesizing the main gaps in knowledge and the emerging trends in studies. Another contribution is the challenge of several prevailing theoretical/conceptual assumptions in cooperation between U–I and o®ering new theoretical/conceptual perspectives that may shape future research on this topic. Last but not the least, this paper de¯nes a roadmap for a future research agenda by proposing multiple directions that can open new avenues for future research and the construction of relevant and appropriate theories for measuring the contributions of cooperation between U–I.
- The value of human values: The importance of government performance towards securityPublication . Patrício, Lurdes; Figueiredo, Natália; Rodrigues, Ricardo; Silva, Rui; Autor correspondente: Patrício, Lurdes. This study investigates whether there is an influence of welfare values on the importance of Government being Strong and Ensuring Security (GSES). Based on secondary data obtained from the European Social Survey database, gathered in 2016 (N = 44.387), eighth round, to measure the 10 values from Schwartz's study in 1992, value theory, containing responses from 23 countries. A linear model regression was used to obtain a parsimonious model that could explain the dependent variable GSES by independent variables benevolence, universalism and self-direction, power and achievement, conformity, tradition and security and hedonism and stimulation. All dimensions were statistically significant to explain the dependent variable. This study contributes to a reconfiguration of values circumplex developed by Schwartz's study in 1992, adding a new layer that reflects each factor's importance weight, centred on explaining the importance of GSES.
- More than meets the partner: a systematic review and agenda for University Industry cooperationPublication . Figueiredo, Natália; Ferreira, João J. M.The literature on university–industry relations suggests the need for greater clarifcation and deeper systematization of the University–Industry cooperation process. This study aims, using a systematic review of the literature to deepen the University–Industry state of the art and identify the main research trends. ISI’s Web of Science was the database used, and a Bibliographic Coupling bibliometric analysis was performed. Based on the outcomes of the literature review, we could identify four clusters: (1) motivations and barriers to cooperation, (2) determinant factors, (3) government measures, and (4) Intersector technological cooperation. This article reveals that industries are willing and motivated to engage in cooperation agreements with universities due to knowledge and technology transfer, however, some barriers will have to be overcome. Based on the existing literature, an agenda for further research was laid out.
- Business simulation in higher education: A case study from a network cooperation perspectivePublication . Figueiredo, Natália; Franco, MárioThe importance of cooperation between higher education institutions (HEIs) has increased and allows the development of competitive advantages, particularly through the transfer of knowledge and technology. Establishing well-conceived and well-managed cooperation networks can bring benefits and overcome obstacles. This article assesses the importance of cooperation between HEIs, characterizing the type of partner suitable for the establishment of cooperation and analysing the benefits and barriers that may arise. To achieve this objective, a qualitative approach based on a case study was adopted. Portuguese HEIs cooperating in the Business Simulation (BS) project were analysed. The results obtained reveal that cooperation between HEIs, more specifically in the BS project, is fundamental for the exchange of knowledge, the acquisition of new technology and platforms, and the acquisition of new work practices. However, it will be necessary to overcome barriers, principally of a more technological nature. This study uses a new and innovative structure, employing a model that expands knowledge on the topic by identifying three dimensions that influence cooperation between HEIs. The authors also present implications for theory and practice and propose an agenda for future research.
- Triple Helix Model: Cooperation in Knowledge CreationPublication . Figueiredo, Natália; Fernandes, Cristina I.; Abrantes, José LuísThe cooperation between universities and industry is decisive. It infuences the development of innovation, knowledge transference, and the development of countries. On the other hand, the government plays a crucial role in developing policies to fnance and leverage these relationships to increase innovation and competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the infuence of local and regional, national, and European government support has on companies’ cooperation with other frms, universities, or governments. This article uses the database of the 2014 Community Innovation Survey. The method uses logistic regression. This research contributed to realizing that public funds play a fundamental role in developing cooperation between triple helix (TH) agents; however, not all have the same level of infuence. The results confrm that when companies obtain public funds to innovate, there is a signifcant impact on TH intervening agents’ cooperation. The central government and the European Union funds are the most signifcant in that cooperation process.
- Female Entrepreneurship Drivers: Entrepreneurial Intention, Performance, and OutcomesPublication . Figueiredo, Natália; Patrício, Lurdes D.; Ferreira, João J.Entrepreneurship is the engine of economic, cultural, and social development. In a reality where equal opportunities between men and women in business are not yet verifiable, we would benefit from an adequate understanding of female entrepreneurship’s impact. This chapter explores the concept of female entrepreneurship in a systematic literature review. Based on Web of Science database articles, it uses bibliometric analysis to analyze the drivers influencing female entrepreneurial intentions, performance, and outcomes. This study enables the systematization of the existing literature into four themes: 1) gender-specific entrepreneurial intention factors, 2) women´s entrepreneurial success factors, 3) women´s entrepreneurial performance, and 4) gender-specific entrepreneurial performance. The results provide insights into the triggering factors of female entrepreneurship intention and help to develop a more profound understanding of the factors affecting their entrepreneurial performance and outcomes. An agenda for further research was laid out based on the existing literature.
