Paliativos (UCP), (O.M. 37.53, =.001).
último, as “infeções”.
erros/incidentes.
Abstract Background: The safety of healthcare provided to patients is essential to ensure their quality. In this context, we studied the safety of the end-of-life patient from the perspective of health professionals. Goal: Understand the interventions of health professionals in the detection of errors and incidents for the patient’s safety. Method: Cross-sectional study with a descriptivecorrelational approach. A Questionnaire of patient safety based on the International Patient Safety Classification from DirectorateGeneral of Health (2011), elaborated for the purpose, was used. The sample consisted of 146 health professionals working in units with chronic and palliative patients. Results: Professionals in the younger age group (≤ 27years), female gender and with post-graduation/specialization are the ones that most frequently observe the incidents/errors. Professionals who work in health units are those who note more incidents/errors (74.29; O.M. =.001) and those from palliative care units the opposite (37.53 O.M., = .001). The "seriousness degree of the observed damage” assumed as of severe gravity or death is the dimension with the highest percentage, followed by the “aggressive attitudes/behavior" towards the sick, and finally "infections". Conclusion: Ensuring patient safety is a primordial aspect, and thus should be worked daily in the clinical practice review o
