Abstract(s)
Entitled "Domestic Violence in Families of Children Signed in a Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth in the Central Region of the Country," this final master project aims to understand situations of domestic violence occurring in the presence of children. The research plan is based on a qualitative methodology, and 21 cases were analyzed in a Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth in the central zone of the country, for domestic violence, in which the child was inevitably present. As an instrument, an ad hoc registration grid was used, which integrated several categories resulting from the content analysis of the processes, referring to characteristics of the victim, the aggressor, the context in which the aggression occurred and the intervention of the same commission. The results obtained are, in some aspects, in line with the profile of victim and aggressor pointed out in the literature, namely the victim being in most cases woman and the aggressor man. However, we also found divergent results with the literature, in the sense that most of the victims, for example, were employed. It was also possible to conclude that the most frequent type of violence was physical and psychological, and that most of the aggressions were due to misunderstandings between the couple. It was also found that, with regard to safeguarding the best interest of the child, the most common measure proposed by the CPCJs was, in these circumstances, Support Together with Parents.
