Abstract(s)
The traditional telecom networks have been facing constant challenges to keep up with bandwidth growth, latency, data consumption and coverage. On top of it, there are also new use cases of telecom infrastructures usage such as the IoT exponential growth. The Network Function Virtualization (NFV) appears as the solution for the transition between high-cost dedicated hardware to low-cost commercial off-theshelf (COTS) servers. This transition will not only meet the requirements of the new telecom reality but also reduces the overall operational cost of the network. This document illustrates the implementation of Cisco Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) of a vEPC on top of Red Hat OpenStack Platform.
