Abstract(s)
A segunda parte
ABSTRACTS: Dermatology in Small Animals Medicine has been gaining greater prominence over the years. The integumentary system is known to be the largest organ of the organism, consequently, more exposed, reflecting cutaneous alterations, being thus representative of the increase of caregiver visits to Veterinary Practices. It is necessary a detailed anamnesis, a phyisical and dermatological examination, combining with the use of complementary means of diagnosis with the purpose of direct towards a final dermatological diagnosis and institution of an effective treatment. It is often necessary to resort to more invasive diagnostic methods, which may require a surgical component such as incisional or excisional skin biopsy. The first part of this work consists of a review of the literature on dermatological diagnostic methods, with emphasis on cutaneous biopsy, its applications, its complications, how to collect and process the sample to the laboratory and what are the main mistakes made. The second part of this dissertation consists of the elaboration of a form / survey for application in dermatology consultations, as support to veterinary team, in the implementation of clear guidelines, in the form of workflow for the procedure of cutaneous biopsies from the clinic to the laboratory and, finally, in the discussion fourteen clinical cases, where in five the cutaneous biopsy is used, in eight other complementary means of diagnosis and finally in a clinical case no complementary means of diagnosis is used.
