Abstract(s)
Professional and Family Conciliation (CPF) represents a challenge in people's lives, causing role conflicts with implications for mental health and parenting. To understand this phenomenon it is necessary to have a holistic view of it, therefore, literature and data collected in a questionnaire developed within the scope of the Adélia Project were analyzed, with two objectives as a guide: understanding the perspectives of people with parental responsibilities from five Municipalities in the Region Center of Portugal (N=673) in relation to their CPF and understand the influence of some individual characteristics of household members in this dimension. In a descriptive dimension, the results pointed to a general difficulty in CPF arising from factors such as work, the feeling of rush and lack of time. However, with regard to time to spend with their children, the responses were more positive. Through inferential analyses, significant differences were found in some items of the questionnaire depending on the age of the participants, number and age of their children, particularly this last sociodemographic variable. Thus, with regard to the CPF, families made up of parental figures aged between 38 and 42, with more than one child and with children over 11 years old, presented a perception of greater difficulty in it. In addition to the practical implications, it is proposed to replicate the study with more detailed sociodemographic information, integrating more variables and more areas of the country and including the perception of children/young people.
