| dc.description.abstract | This study takes its approach in terms of the spaces and materials used in, and created by the civil, house-hold architecture of the Rua Direita, in Viseu during the sixteenth century. At the time (and even beyond) it was the most important street of the settlement, linking two of the main gates of the city’s walls: the still existing Porta dos Cavaleiros to the Porta de Cimo de Vila. The analysis presented here is based upon the information available in the Livros de Prazos of Viseu’s Cabido within a time frame that goes from 1523 to 1598, and aims to allow a reconstruction of the way people inhabited this artery during the fifteen hundreds. | pt_PT |
