individuos.
Contudo, a
Abstract The present study aims to assess the level of economic literacy of adult population in Portugal. It also evaluates their attitudes and perceived interest about Economics. With these goals, we analyse data collected through an Economic Literacy Survey (ILE) that was applied to 234 individuals. The individuals surveyed have a reasonable level of knowledge about central economic issues and concepts. Respondents tend to have more economic knowledge as a result of their role as consumers. Variables such as age, gender, level of education and income are determinants that influence positively the knowledge about Economics. The majority recognizes the importance of having good knowledge in Economics, however, they show some reluctance to include Economics in primary education.
