| dc.description.abstract | As fraturas da extremidade superior do fémur, quando surgem em Idosos, representam um sério problema de saúde pública, causando sofrimento e incapacidades. Assim, o presente estudo teve por objetivo identificar a incapacidade funcional causada por esta patologia em idosos e verificar em que medida as variáveis sociodemográficas, clínicas e psicossociais interferem nessa incapacidade. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, descritivo/correlacional do tipo quantitativo, numa amostra não probabilística por conveniência, constituída por 60 idosos do concelho de Viseu com fratura da extremidade superior do fémur há mais de 6 meses. O instrumento de medida utilizado integrou um inquérito construído para o efeito, a Escala de Apgar Familiar e a Escala Modificada.de Barthel. Os resultados mostraram que 40% dos idosos são independentes, 21,7% apresentam dependência moderada e 38,3% apresenta dependência severa. Verificámos, ainda, que os idosos mais novos (p=0,01), casados (p=0,006), com habilitações literárias superiores (p=0,002), com maiores rendimentos mensais (p=0,017), com apoio informal (p=0,003) e com a realização de programas de reabilitação continuados (p=0,002) eram os que possuíam maior capacidade funcional. Conclusões: As evidências encontradas neste estudo mostram que a incapacidade funcional dos idosos resultantes das fraturas da extremidade superior do fémur apresenta níveis diferenciados de dependência e confirma a multiplicidade de fatores que podem interferir nessa dependência. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Fractures of the upper end of the femur, when they arise in the Elderly, represent a serious public health problem, causing suffering and high disability. Thus the present study aimed to identify the functional disability caused by this disease in the elderly and verify the extent to which sociodemographic, clinical and psychosocial variables affect disability. This is a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive/correlational study, which used a non-probability sample consisting of 60 elderly from the municipality of Viseu who had suffered a fracture of the upper end of the femur for more than 6 months ago. The measuring instrument used was part of an questionnaire built for this purpose, a Family Apgar Scale and the Modified Barthel Scale. The results showed that 40% of older people are independent, 21.7% had moderate dependence and 38.3% had severe dependence. We found also that the younger elderly (p = 0.01), married (p = 0.006), with higher education level (p = 0.002), with higher monthly incomes (p = 0.017), with informal support (p = 0.003) and conducting ongoing rehabilitation programs (p = 0.002) were those who had greater functional capacity Conclusions: The evidence found in this study shows that the resulting functional disability of fractures of the upper end of the femur, in the elderly, has different levels of dependence and support the multiple factors that can affect this dependence. | pt_PT |
