- Patterns of Play in the Counterattack of Elite Football Teams - A Mixed Method ApproachPublication . Sarmento, H.; Anguera, MT.; Pereira, A.; Marques, C.; Leitão, J.This study aimed to detect and analyse regular patterns of play in football teams during their offensive phase, through the combination of the sequential analysis technique and semi-structured interviews of experienced first League Portuguese coaches. The sample included 36 games (12 per team) of the F.C. Barcelona, Internazionalle Milano, and Manchester United teams that were analysed through sequential analysis with the software SDIS-GSEQ. Based on the detected patterns, semi-structured interviews were carried out with 8 expert high-performance football coaches. Data were analysed through the content analysis technique using the software Nvivo 9. The detected patterns of play revealed specific characteristics of different philosophies of play. Through the performed content analysis we could observe that coaches interpreting play patterns mainly based their opinions on tactical-strategic and tactical-technical aspects, and on the characteristics of the players on their team. On the other hand, consideration was given to three of the main evolutionary trends of play/soccer practice, which focus on the development of exercises that cover: i) the connection between the four play moments (offensive/defensive organization and transitions); ii) the pre-programmed ball possession recovery; iii) the execution of set pieces.
- Self-perception of dual career barriers and athletic identity in student-athletes with disabilities according to disability type and level of professionalizationPublication . Maciá-Andreu, M. J.; Vaquero-Cristóbal, R.; Meroño, L.; Abenza-Cano, L.; García-Roca, J. A.; Cánovas-Álvarez, F. J.; Díaz-Aroca, A.; Capranica, L.; Stanescu, M.; Pereira, A.; Doupona, M.; Mendes, F.; Figueiredo, Abel; Isidori, E.; Sánchez‑Pato, A.; Leiva‑Arcas, A.The objective of this study was to analyze the perceived barriers to dual career success and athletic identity of student-athletes according to disability type and level of professionalization. The final sample consisted of 203 student-athletes with disabilities from five European countries. The questionnaires used were ESTPORT, EBBS and AIMS. Depending on disability type, it was found that student-athletes with hearing and physical impairment showed the highest difficulty in reconciling sports and studies (p = 0.001); that student-athletes with a hearing impairment showed the highest score in the barrier ‘the cost of education is high’ (p = 0.023); that student-athletes with a physical impairment had the highest scores in the barrier ‘Exercise tires me’ (p = 0.013); that student-athletes with cerebral palsy showed the highest scores in the barrier ‘I do not have enough university/educational institution support’ (p = 0.014) and ‘Exercise facilities do not have convenient timetables for me’ (p = 0.001). Depending on sports professionalization level, semi-professional student-athletes showed the highest values in the barrier ‘the university/educational institution is far from my training center’ (p = 0.040); while professional student-athletes had the highest score in the barrier ‘exercise takes too much time from family responsibilities’ (p = 0.034). In most of the variables related to identity as athletes, professional student-athletes showed the highest values, followed by semi-professional athletes (p = 0.043- < 0.001). In conclusion, the self-perception of barriers is quite relevant, with differences arising from disability type and level of professionalization, whereas the identity as an athlete is only different according to the level of professionalization.
- Variabilidade anual do gás radão no ar interior de espaços públicosPublication . Guerra, Paula; Ribeiro, Joana; Cardoso, Ana Paula; Domingos, F.; Luís, G.; Pereira, A.Radon gas produced in the radioactive decay series of uranium present in rocks and soils may accumulate inside overlying buildings, deteriorating indoor air quality due to the increased risk of exposure to ionizing radiation. Since the area of Gouveia is classified as having a high susceptibility of exposure to radon, this work aims to determine the indoor radon concentration (IRC) of public buildings in this municipality. Measurements were made in 39 rooms in 4 different buildings with passive detectors (CR-39), over a year. The results reveal that the accumulation of radon inside the buildings depends on the nature of the geological materials occurring in the studied areas, the seasonality of climatic conditions, and structural characteristics of the buildings. The buildings with higher variability in IRC are those of older construction and with spaces mostly occupied by administrative services and support for teaching activities.
