Abstract Background: Adolescence is a period marked by difficulties reported by parents and teachers educating adolescents, and the way they behave individually and with regard to others. Methodology: In order to evaluate parents’ and teachers’ perspectives regarding the internalizing and externalizing behaviours of 3rd cycle students (7th – 9th years of schooling), a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study was performed. A sample of 148 parents and 178 teachers assessed the behaviour of 178 children (81 boys vs. 67 girls assessed by parents and 89 boys vs. 89 girls assessed by teachers). The mean age of the sample assessed by the parents was 13.58 years (±0.583), 55.4% of whom were enrolled in the 8th year; whereas, 13.74 years (±0.864) was the mean age of the sample assessed by the teachers, 53.4% of whom were in the 8th year. Data collection included the Questionnaire on Children’s Behaviours for ages 6 to 18 years (Child Behaviour Checklist - CBCL 6-18) and the Questionnaire on Children’s Behaviours for Teachers (Teacher’s Report Form - TRF). Results: The parents perceived more cases of anxiety/depression (M=4.70; ±4.28) and internalization behaviours (M=10.26 ±8.66) prevalent in 13-year-old (M=10.81; ±8.83) girls (M=11.76; ±9.44), in the 8th year (M=11.90; ±10.05; p<0.03). The teachers perceived more attention problems (M=6.44; ±8.87) and internalization behaviours (M=3.98; ±4.64), in girls (OM=99.71; p=0.008), who are 15 or older (OM=115.15; p=0.006), in the 7th year (OM=101.55), in Silgueiros (OM=113.22; p=0.000). Conclusion: The results point out that both the parents’ and the teachers’ perspective are crucial for an integrative vision of adolescents.
