Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: In the automobile industry, flexibility and production volume are fundamental requirements in production processes for companies to achieve a diversified responsiveness to the variety of products required in the current market. To this end, industrial robots play a relevant role as they allow for increased production, just as the programming of programmable logic controllers allows for greater flexibility in manufacturing, by allowing several different products to be produced on the same machine. The present work set as objective to program two industrial cells developed for the automobile sector. The work was developed in an industrial machinery company in the district of Viseu. Several software tools were developed to integrate and control all the cell's automation equipment, namely industrial robots, programmable logic controllers, artificial vision cameras and human-machine interfaces (HMI). The robot was programmed for a machine whose objective is to place metallic staples in plastic molds of two different references, as well as its communication with the programmable logic controller. The programmable logic controller, the HMI and the artificial vision cameras of another machine were also programmed, the purpose of which is to screw the pulleys onto rails and to check the process. For this purpose, this machine has two industrial robots controlled by the programmable logic controller, which screw and check the condition of the rail, before placing it in the evacuation area. This procedure can be done for six different rail references.
