Abstract(s)
Enquadramento: Cuidar do doente e sua família constitui uma atividade central dos cuidados de enfermagem. A importância de incluir a família nos cuidados de enfermagem é cada vez mais assumida de forma transversal em todos os contextos de cuidados.
Importa acrescentar que para serem eficazes e eficientes nas suas intervenções, os enfermeiros necessitam de um conjunto de competências e recursos humanos que dizem respeito ao que atualmente se considera Competência Emocional.
Objetivos: Identificar as atitudes dos enfermeiros em relação à importância da família nos cuidados de enfermagem na área hospitalar e verificar se as atitudes são influenciadas pelas variáveis sociodemográficas, profissionais e competências emocionais dos enfermeiros.
Método: Estudo de natureza quantitativa, descritivo - correlacional, transversal, realizado com 174 enfermeiros de um Centro Hospitalar da região Centro, constituído por 79.9% mulheres e 20.1% homens, e o grupo etário mais predominante é dos 30 aos 39 anos (40.8%). O instrumento de colheita de dados é composto por um questionário de caracterização sociodemográfica; profissional e pelas escalas: Escala Importância da Família nos Cuidados de Enfermagem - Atitudes dos Enfermeiros (IFCE-AE); Escala Veiga de Competência Emocional (EVCE).
Resultados: Os enfermeiros em estudo revelam uma atitude de suporte em relação à importância de incluir as famílias na prestação de cuidados.
As habilitações académicas, a categoria profissional, a formação em enfermagem de família e a Competência Emocional influenciam as atitudes dos enfermeiros.
Conclusão: Os enfermeiros, da área hospitalar, possuem um grau de concordância elevado sobre a importância das famílias nos cuidados de enfermagem. A capacidade Empatia da competência emocional revelou-se preditora das atitudes dos enfermeiros na importância da família no cuidar

The importance of including the family in nursing care is increasingly assumed across all care contexts. It should be added that in order to be effective and efficient in their interventions, nurses need a set of skills and human resources that relate to what is currently considered Emotional Competence. Objective: To identify the nurses' attitudes regarding the importance of the family in the nursing care in the hospital area and to verify if the attitudes are influenced by the sociodemographic variables, professionals and the emotional competences of the nurses. Method: A quantitative, descriptive - correlational, cross - sectional study of 174 nurses from a Hospital Center in the Central region, consisting of 79.9% women and 20.1% men, and the predominant age group is from 30 to 39 years old (40.8%). . The data collection instrument is composed of a sociodemographic characterization questionnaire; Professional and Scales: Importance of the Family in Nursing Care - Nurses' Attitudes (IFCE-AE); Escala Veiga de Competência Emocional (EVCE). Results: The nurses under study show a supportive attitude towards the importance of including families in care. Academic qualifications, the professional category, training in family nursing and Emotional Competence influence nurses' attitudes. Conclusion: Nurses, from the hospital area, have a high degree of agreement about the importance of families in nursing care.
