Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: Energy efficiency and the decarbonization of the environment are topics that deserve growing concern from research centers and national and international organizations. In this way, there is a concern in the energy rehabilitation of buildings and the study of improvement measures which main focus is to turn the building into an NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Build ing). Decree-Laws issued by member states of the European Union have several objectives and provide methodologies for calculating energy performance, establishing minimum require ments for new buildings. This dissertation addresses the implementation of energy certification in a service build ing, applying the calculation methods to a case study. It is intended to raise improvement pro posals that contribute to the increase in energy performance and favor the reduction of energy consumption. Finally, it is intended to carry out the maintenance plan of the different systems present in the building, in order to extend their useful life. The purpose is to demonstrate that the rational use of energy measures proposed in the energy certificate contribute to increase energy efficiency and sustainability. These promote a reduction in energy consumption and consequently the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The evolution and increase in the level of demand for energy certification in Portugal contribute to limit the energy consumption at home and commercial and service buildings, by mainly encouraging the renovation of existing buildings, devoid of energy efficiency when compared to new buildings. It is extremely important to promote a higher level of thermal comfort, reduce energy deficiency and encourage consumption from renewable energies, contributing to the decarbon ization of economies and to a better quality of life in buildings.
