Abstract(s)
The dissertation aims to describe the research work on the importance of the role of music in promoting quality of life in residential care. To better study and draw conclusions regarding this topic, an intervention was carried out in the context of residential care with a view to understanding whether, through music, the quality of life in residential care changed and had an impact on five female residents, when the sessions were held. In this sense, seven sessions were organized with the implementation of various activities, from different areas of musical expression, using music as a vehicle to promote physical and emotional well-being, self-esteem, relationships with school and peers, ultimately improving quality of life. To monitor and evaluate the results, the “KINDLR Questionnaire” for children and adolescents was used, applied at the beginning and end of the intervention, as well as the reflections carried out throughout the sessions, mirrored in the observation grids. At the end of the intervention, what I can conclude is that the musical experience proved to be more than just an artistic activity: it became a channel for expression, affection, and transformation, having a deep and positive impact on the quality of life of the young women in residential care. Music touched more than notes, it touched souls. Among voices, rhythms, and silences, a space of affection, listening, and sharing emerged, where each young woman was able to recognize herself, express herself, and, above all, feel truly alive.
