Abstract Introduction: Completing clinical rotations in the Emergency and Intensive Care Units was a pivotal moment in my educational journey, focused on acquiring both general and specialized competencies as a Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing, specifically in the area of Critical Care Nursing, integrating practical experiences with the process of developing specialized skills; The research study “Bundle of Interventions for the Prevention of Urinary Tract Infections Associated with Urinary Catheters: Nurses’ Perspective” aims to analyze clinical practice and the interventions implemented, promoting reflection grounded in scientific evidence. Objectives: To critically analyze the acquisition of common and specific competencies in Medical-Surgical Nursing, within the field of Critical Care Nursing; To assess nurses’ perspectives on the “Bundle of Interventions for the Prevention of Urinary Tract Infections Associated with Urinary Catheters.” Methods: Analysis of skills acquired during internships in emergency and intensive care settings; A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study conducted at a local health unit in northern Portugal, comparing departments with and without implementation of the “STOP Hospital Infection 2.0” project. Results: Direct contact with patients in critical condition, in diverse settings such as the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, as well as the activities performed, were essential elements for the development of competencies in the various domains of nursing practice; The study involved 80 nurses. The results show that nurses demonstrate an overall adequate level of knowledge regarding the Intervention Bundle; however, weaknesses are identified in its practical application, particularly in areas that require greater critical and clinical thinking skills. Conclusion: The objectives set for the internships were achieved, and the necessary skills were acquired. The research findings confirm that, although nurses demonstrate a good level of knowledge regarding the “Intervention Bundle,” gaps remain in its practical application. Keywords: Medical-Surgical Nursing; Research; Urinary Tract Infections; Health Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice.
