Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a behavioral disorder that is most common in school-age children and has increased significantly in prevalence over the last decade. It significantly affects children's performance in all areas of life, accompanied by a series of negative thoughts about themselves and their surroundings. Most of the children's self-concept and self-esteem deficits are associated with learning difficulties and difficulties in the school environment. From a pedagogical perspective, children with ADHD often have problems with low self-esteem, poor academic performance, and social, family and financial difficulties. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment are not only aimed at controlling the symptoms, but mainly at preventing their impact on the individual's life. Continuity, throughout this work, a study was carried out that aimed to evaluate the impact of ADHD on a student's self-concept and self-esteem. Behavioral disorders are difficult to understand and diagnose, and are not always consensual or consistent. To complicate matters, there are several behavioral problems with similar symptoms, and efforts must be directed towards studying and deepening the subject. Many agitated, talkative and restless children are sometimes wrongly diagnosed with ADHD, when they may not present the problem and, instead, other disorders or personality characteristics. In conclusion, this case study highlights the complexity of diagnosing ADHD, given the overlap of symptoms with other behavioral disorders or personality traits. It highlights the importance of a rigorous assessment, as well as the fundamental role of self-esteem and self-concept in the child's development. It also highlights the need for continuous support from the family, school and community, and for adaptations in the contexts where the child is inserted, given the challenges associated with impulsivity, hyperactivity and low tolerance to frustration.
