Abstract(s)
Introdução: Na conjuntura actual, existem cada vez mais enfermeiros a permanecer
no mercado de trabalho por períodos de tempo mais longos, constituindo esta circunstância
um verdadeiro desafio à sua capacidade para o trabalho. Nesta perspectiva torna-se pertinente
identificar níveis de capacidade para o trabalho bem como um conjunto de factores que nela
interferem.
Objetivo: Avaliar a Capacidade para o trabalho dos enfermeiros e verificar em que
medida as variáveis sociodemográficas e profissionais têm efeito significativo no seu
desempenho.
Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, transversal e descritivo, possuindo,
ainda, uma componente analítica que incide, especificamente, sobre a Capacidade para o
trabalho dos enfermeiros. A amostra é do tipo não probabilístico, por conveniência,
constituída por 159 enfermeiros do Centro Hospitalar Tondela – Viseu, EPE (CHTV; EPE). O
instrumento de colheita de dados integra o Índice de Capacidade para o Trabalho. Para o
tratamento estatístico foi utilizado o programa SPSS versão 19.
Resultados: A população estudada é maioritariamente feminina, com uma média de
idades de 36,49 anos, casada, com filhos e Licenciados. As variáveis que influenciaram
significativamente a capacidade para o trabalho são: idade, género, estado civil, existência de
filhos, habilitações académicas, vinculo laboral, tempo de serviço e as exigências do trabalho .
Conclusão: Face ás evidências apresentadas, infere-se que as variáveis estudadas,
designadamente a idade influenciam a capacidade para o trabalho dos enfermeiros, impondose
considera-las para intervir na prevenção incentivando os trabalhadores a hábitos de vida
saudáveis, minimizando os efeitos adversos do trabalho e manter uma vigilância periódica da
saúde. Em suma, devem ser implementadas estratégias de intervenção que melhorem a
capacidade para o trabalho, promovam a saúde e o bem-estar dos enfermeiros, tendo em vista
a melhoria dos cuidados prestados, assim como devem ser desenvolvidos estudos nesta área
com maior rigor metodológico.
ABSTRACT Introduction: At the current juncture, there are more nurses to remain in the workforce for longer periods of time, and this constitutes a true challenge to their ability to work. In this context it is pertinent to identify work capacity levels as well as a number of factors that impact on it. Objective: To evaluate the work capacity of nurses, and see to what extent sociodemographic and professionals variables have significant effect on performance. Methodology: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study, having also an analytical component that focuses specifically on the working capacity of nurses. The sample is non probabilistic, for convenience, and consists of 159 nurses from the Centre Hospitalier Tondela - Viseu, EPE (CHTV; EPE). The instrument of data collection is part of the Capacity Index for Work. For statistical analysis we used SPSS version 19. Results: The study population was predominantly female, with a mean age of 36-49 years, married, with children and Licensed. The variables that significantly influenced the capacity to work are: age, gender, marital status, number of children, educational attainment, labor bond, length of service and job requirements. Conclusion: Given the evidence presented, it appears that the studied variables, including age, influence the work capacity of nurses. It is important to act on these variables as a matter of prevention, encouraging employees to healthy living, minimizing adverse work effects and maintain a periodic health surveillance. In short, it should be implemented intervention strategies that improve the capacity to work, promote health and well-being of nurses in order to improve the care provided. Also, studies with greater methodological rigor should be conducted in this area.
