Abstract(s)
The intervention on the social scope presumes constant evaluations in order to build solutions suited to felt needs. The healthy development of gypsy children consists of promoting positive perspectives and subsequently identifying risk factors. Once risk factors are analysed, solutions are needed, such as empowering children through the promotion of positive expectations (Casa-Nova, 2016). The present study aims to understand the future expectancy of gypsy ethnicity children in the context of School, Family and Employment. The methodology used is qualitative by semi-structured interview technique. This study includes a sample of 26 people, 16 children and 10 parents (mothers) of gypsy ethnicity who benefit from the services of a project based in the central regions of Portugal. This project intervenes in the areas of risk reduction and damage minimization, along with people being through social vulnerability, mostly of gypsy ethnicity, ensuring access to basic human rights and social reintegration. This research contributes to understand the perspective of this subjects and the expectations they have regarding their future. The data were analyzed through descriptive and content analysis and demonstrated: the need for greater investigation of these interventions in Portugal; preventive factors developed through positive family relationships; markers of success in the family-school dynamic; improvements in the prevention of risk factors.
