Abstract(s)
Enquadramento: O parto é um processo natural que envolve fatores biológicos, psicológicos e socioculturais. Assim, constituiu para a mulher/família uma experiência de impacto emocional significativo. O processo de humanização do parto e nascimento promove o envolvimento afetivo da parturiente como sujeito ativo capaz de escolhas, contribuindo para que ela tenha consciência dos seus direitos e da sua autonomia. A presença de uma pessoa significativa está patente na humanização do parto, sendo expressa pela satisfação das mulheres com o parto. Para o profissional que pretende uma atuação humanista, respeitar, entender os direitos, as necessidades e limites do ser humano é condição indispensável para uma assistência humanizada e de qualidade. Desta forma torna-se fundamental que os enfermeiros de Saúde Materna e Obstetrícia, enquanto prestadores de cuidados, conheçam as vivências que têm as parturientes e acompanhantes ao longo do trabalho de parto e parto, e por tal, melhorem a qualidade da assistência.
Objetivo: Compreender o significado atribuído pela parturiente, pessoa significativa e enfermeiro especialista de saúde materna e obstetrícia à presença de uma pessoa significativa no parto.
Material e métodos: Estudo de natureza qualitativa, com abordagem descritiva, baseado na recolha de informação detalhada, pela aplicação de uma entrevista semiestruturada. A amostra é constituída por três grupos de participantes, 10 puérperas; 10 pessoas significativas e 8 enfermeiros especialistas em saúde materna e obstetrícia.
Resultados: Os resultados deste estudo permitiram compreender que as vivências do trabalho de parto e parto pela puérpera não divergem muito da pessoa significativa que está cada vez mais preocupado em estar junto da mulher, partilhando as suas vivências. Por sua vez o enfermeiro, embora reconheça a importância do papel da pessoa significativa, ainda necessita de maior sensibilização para a relevância da presença do acompanhante, bem como da forma como lidar com esta presença, fazendo com que este se sinta parte integrante do processo.
Conclusão: O apoio emocional de um acompanhante à escolha da parturiente é essencial para que a mulher possa conviver melhor com a dor e ansiedade, durante todo o processo do trabalho de parto e parto. O conhecimento das vivências das puérperas, pessoas significativas e enfermeiros sobre os cuidados ao longo do trabalho de parto, permite que os enfermeiros mudem a visão em relação à pessoa significativa, procurando a melhoria contínua da assistência humanizada e satisfação durante o parto.

ABSTRACT Background: Birth is a natural process that involves biological, psychological and socio-cultural issues. Thus, constitutes for the woman/family an experience with major emotional impact. Labour and birth humanization process, promotes woman's affective involvement, as an active subject, capable of taking own choices and giving her consciousness of her own rights and autonomy. The presence of a significant person is evident in the humanization of childbirth, being expressed by women's satisfaction with birth. For a professional who wants quality and a humanist and humanized assistance performance, it is essential to respect and understand the rights, needs and limits of the human being. In this way, it becomes crucial that Health Maternity and Obstetrics nurses, while caregivers know the experiences that woman live during labour and delivery and, therefore, improve the quality of care. Aim: Understanding the meaning of the presence of the significant person during birth for the mother, the significant person himself and the health maternity and obstetrics professional. Material and Methods: Study of qualitative nature, with a descriptive approach, based on the collection of detailed information, by applying a semi-structured interview. The sample consists of 3 groups of participants: 10 women, 10 significant person and 8 health maternity and obstetrics specialized nurses. Results: This study results allowed us to understand that the experiences of child-birth labour and birth beside the postpartum women do not differ much from significant person who is increasingly concerned about being together with his woman, sharing their experiences. On the other hand, the nurse although recognizing the important role of a significant person, still requires greater awareness of the importance of the companion presence, as well how to deal with his presence, causing him feeling part of the process. Conclusion: The emotional support of a companion, at mother’s choice, is essential, once it helps to better deal with pain and anxiety, throughout the process of labour and delivery. The knowledge of the woman, significant person and nurses about the care needed over labour, enables nurses to change their vision towards the significant person, seeking continuous improvement of an humanized assistance and satisfaction during birth.
