Abstract(s)
frequentemente no nosso país.

Abstract Background: The lower limb amputation is a frequent surgery in our country with consequent prosthesis. Therefore, there is an emerging need to understand the effectiveness in early implementation of adequate rehabilitation programs, with the view to increase the prosthesis success, since it can be influenced by several factors. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of an early rehabilitation program implementation in the prosthesis success, on patients undergoing lower limb amputation. Methods: A systematic review of relevant literature was conducted mainly by using data bases PubMed; SciELO; PEDro; MEDLINE; EBSCO and National and International Institutional Repositories. Different combinations of the keywords “rehabilitation”, “amputees”, “amputation”, “lower extremity”, “artificial limbs” and “nursing” were used, both in the Portuguese and English languages. The research was conducted from September 2016 to March 2017, following the principles proposed by Cochrane Handbook and the critical analysis made by two researchers. Results: From a total of 518 articles, only four observational studies were selected wich demonstrated the benefits of an early and specialized rehabilitation among patients undergoing lower limb amputation, contributing to the accomplishment of home reintegration and mobility. Conclusions: The conjunct analysis of the four studies allows to establish that the implementation of early specialized rehabilitation programs among patients undergoing lower limb amputation, promotes the improvement of the physical function, with a higher probability of prosthesis prescription, home discharge and a higher survival rate one year after surgery. Key-words: “amputee”; “amputation”; “; success”; prosthesis; “early rehabilitation”.
