This report results from the curricular internship carried out within the Master's Degree in Psychosocial Intervention with Children and Youth at Risk at the School of Education of Viseu. The internship took place at the Domestic Violence Victim Support Center (NAVVD) and subsequently involved intervention in the Emergency Shelter Center (CAEV) and the Specialized Shelter Center (CAD), services dedicated to the protection and support of women victims of domestic violence and their children. Based on the identification of vulnerabilities related to self-esteem, autonomy, emotional stability, and social integration, the project “Rewriting My Story” was developed with the aim of promoting empowerment, autonomy, and psychosocial well-being among the participants. The intervention adopted a socio-educational and participatory approach, structured around five main areas: identity, body and emotions; autonomy and financial literacy; future planning and life-story reconstruction; community participation; and intervention with the technical staff. Activities included creative workshops, therapeutic writing, group dynamics, financial literacy sessions, and community-based experiences aimed at fostering autonomy. The project evaluation identified indicators suggesting improvements in participants’ engagement, emotional expression, self-esteem, and autonomy. Increased participation in the proposed activities, more frequent moments of group sharing, and greater involvement in community integration experiences were observed. The results highlight the potential of expressive and participatory approaches in promoting empowerment and supporting the reconstruction of life projects among women victims of domestic violence. The internship also emphasized the importance of integrated responses in protecting both women and children exposed to domestic violence.
