Abstract(s)
Com as alterações manifestadas nas áreas rurais ao longo das últimas décadas, o sucesso de muitos
destes territórios está ligado à capacidade da população local inovar, frequentemente a partir dos
recursos endógenos. Reforçam-se assim as vantagens competitivas desses territórios e contribuise para a sua identidade. As Artes e Ofícios Tradicionais (AOTSs), aliadas a outras atividades
económicas locais, constituem-se como instrumentos de regeneração socioeconómica local.
Partindo de uma investigação centrada na região Viseu Dão Lafões, em Portugal, pretende-se
explorar neste estudo iniciativas empreendedoras e inovadoras relativas a AOTs e observar o seu
contributo para o desenvolvimento rural local. Os resultados indicam que apesar da dinâmica de
algumas destas iniciativas e da aposta na inovação (produto, processo, organizacional e
marketing), existe ainda algum défice na promoção das mesmas por parte dos municípios, sendo
igualmente desejável um apoio institucional mais forte, tendo em conta a natureza destes próprios
negócios e a sua localização
With the changes manifested in rural areas over the last few decades, the success of many of these territories is linked to the ability of the local population to innovate, often using endogenous resources. This reinforces the competitive advantages of these territories and contributes to their identity. Traditional Arts and Crafts (TCAs), combined with other local economic activities, are instruments of local socio-economic regeneration. Starting from an investigation focused on the Viseu Dão Lafões region, in Portugal, this study intends to explore entrepreneurial and innovative initiatives related to TCAs and observe their contribution to the local rural development. The results indicate that despite the dynamics of some of these initiatives and the focus on innovation (product, process, organizational and marketing), there is still some deficit in promoting them by the municipalities, and stronger institutional support is also desirable, taking into account the nature of these businesses themselves and their location.
