Abstract(s)
Child sexual abuse constitutes a form of maltreatment and, simultaneously, is a sexuallyoriented crime that requires a holistic and coordinated legal system intervention in conjunction with the social structure aimed at ensuring the protection of child victims of these crimes. However, there is a shortage of studies regarding specific intervention with child victims of sexual abuse. In this sense, this qualitative study arises out of the need to understand how training on child and adolescent sexual abuse is characterized and perceived by professionals working in this field. To achieve this, a documentary analysis of the curriculum plans (n=91) of the courses that train professionals involved in cases of child sexual abuse was conducted, specifically in the fields of Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Medicine, Law, Social Education, Elementary Education, Educational Sciences, and Law Enforcement Agencies. In order to complement the documentary analysis, semi-structured interviews were conducted with different professionals with experience in handling cases of child sexual abuse (n=9). The study's results revealed that less than half (42%) of the curriculum plans analyzed include this topic. On the other hand, there is a notable and positive trend towards the development of supplementary training programs. The interview results reinforce the scarcity of specialized training, as only a minority (33%) of the interviewed professionals have specific training in this area, despite all of them recognizing its importance.
