Abstract(s)
Sendo o doente internado, o foco do cuidado de enfermagem, muitas vezes, as
necessidades dos familiares desses doentes são banalizadas por parte da equipa de
enfermagem. Uma situação de internamento em Cuidados Intensivos (CI) é um factor que
desencadeia stress e ansiedade, em que toda a estrutura familiar é ameaçada. Como tal,
sendo a família uma extensão do doente, cuidar deste requer que se cuide igualmente dos
seus familiares.
Pretende-se com este estudo identificar as necessidades dos familiares dos pacientes
internados na Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos Coronários (UCIC) do Centro Hospitalar
Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, no momento que o visita pela primeira vez.
Através das necessidades identificadas elaborou-se um Guia Temático de Acolhimento na
Primeira Visita para os Familiares, no sentido de melhorar o acolhimento e cuidados
dispensados ao doente e família.
Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo do tipo descritivo em que se usou a abordagem
fenomenológica para a análise e tratamento de dados. Para a sua recolha, foi aplicada uma
entrevista não estruturada a um total de 7 familiares que visitaram pela primeira vez o
familiar internado na referida unidade.
As necessidades manifestadas foram: o apoio psicológico; informação sobre os
procedimentos da unidade, sobre o estado clínico do doente e mais tempo de duração da
visita.
Chegou-se à conclusão que a informação e apoio prestados por parte do enfermeiro de
cuidados intensivos, englobado num acolhimento empático, é um cuidado fundamental que
diminui os sentimentos manifestados face ao internamento; nomeadamente, de choque,
ansiedade, e angústia.

ABSTRACT Being the hospitalized patient, the focus of the nurse care, many times, the necessities of these patients’ relatives are trivialized by the nurse group. A hospitalization in an intensivecare unit is a factor, which provokes stress and anxiety, where the whole family structure is threatened. Therefore, being the family an extension of the patient, caring of him, requires that the relatives ought also to be cared for. It is pretended with this study to identify the necessities of the patients’ relatives in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit of the Trás-os-Montes e Alto-Douro Central Hospital, at the moment this visit happens for the first time. Through the identified necessities, a family welcome guide was elaborated, in the sense of improving the welcome and care given to the patient and family. It is a qualitative descriptive study, where a phenomenological approach was used for the analysis and treatment of data. For its gathering, a non-structured interview was applied to a total of 7 relatives, who visited the hospitalized family member for the first time in the referred unit. The necessities manifested where: the psychological support, information about procedures of the unit, the clinical state of the patient and more duration time of the visit. It was concluded that the information and support given by the intensive care nurses, embraced in an empathic welcome, is a fundamental care which decreases the feelings manifested towards the hospitalization; namely, of shock, anxiety and anguish.
