Abstract(s)
A negligência familiar é a segunda forma mais frequente de maus-tratos a
crianças até aos 5 anos. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo centra-se na realização de uma
pesquisa inicial sobre as possíveis consequências desenvolvimentais que podem estar
associadas à exposição à negligência, nomeadamente em termos linguísticos e de
vinculação, em crianças de idade pré-escolar, que pudesse servir de base para a
construção de um projeto de investigação mais abrangente.
Assim, em primeiro lugar realizou-se um estudo quantitativo e exploratório, do
tipo correlacional, sendo a recolha de dados realizada de forma transversal. Como
instrumentos de recolha de dados foram utilizados o Teste de Avaliação de Linguagem
da Criança (Sua-Kay & Tavares, 2006), a Escala de Percepção dos Comportamento de
Vinculação para Professores (Dias, Soares, Freire, & Rio, 2008), bem como um
questionário sociodemográfico. A amostra de conveniência era constituída por 5
crianças que foram vítimas de negligência, que se encontravam num Centro de
Acolhimento Temporário, e de 5 crianças que não foram vítimas de negligência, que
frequentavam um Jardim-de-infância de uma Instituição Particular de Solidariedade
Social.
Concluiu-se que a exposição à negligência, por parte da família, tende a
constituir-se como um fator de risco para o surgimento de um atraso de desenvolvimento
de linguagem, bem como de alterações nos comportamentos de vinculação na criança.
Contudo, sendo este estudo uma pesquisa inicial sobre esta temática, projetou-se uma
investigação, com uma amostra representativa de todo o território nacional, que
permitirá testar as hipóteses formuladas, bem como a generalização dos resultados
obtidos.
ABSTRACT The family neglect is the second most frequent form of abuse of children up to 5 years old. Thus, the aim of this study focuses on the carrying out of an initial research on the possible developmental consequences that may be associated with the exposure to neglect, mainly in linguistic and attachment terms, in children of preschool age that could be the basis for the construction of a larger research project. A quantitative and exploratory study, of the correlational type, was conducted, being the data collection performed in a transversal way. The used data collection instruments were the Teste de Avaliação da Linguagem na Criança (Sua-Kay & Tavares, 2006), the Escala de Percepção dos Comportamentos de Vinculação para Professores (Dias, Soares, Freire, & Rio, 2008) and a socio demographic questionnaire. The convenience sample consisted of 5 neglect victims’ children, who were in a Temporary Home Institution, and 5 children not victims of neglect, who were attending a kindergarten of a Private Institution of Social Solidarity. It was concluded that the exposure to familiar neglect, reveals itself as a risk factor for the appearing of a delay of the language development, as well as for changes in the child’s attachment behavior. However, as this study is an initial research on this subject, we suggest an extended investigation, with a representative sample of the national territory, which can both test all the hypotheses and generalize the achieved results.
