Perceções em torno das vivências do acolhimento residencial de crianças e jovens em risco

| dc.description.abstract | O presente trabalho pretende contribuir para o aprofundamento do conhecimento sobre as vivências associadas ao acolhimento residencial e sobre o impacto do processo do acolhimento, através do olhar de crianças e jovens que foram retiradas às suas famílias biológicas por se encontrarem em situações de perigo. Em Portugal existe um grande número de crianças e jovens em risco/perigo. Segundo o Relatório Casa, no ano de 2020 existiam em Portugal 6706 crianças e jovens em regime de acolhimento. Muitas vezes a principal causa para situações de risco/perigo em que as mesmas se encontram remete para fatores de ordem familiar. De acordo com a literatura, as crianças e jovens referem ter tido uma experiência negativa no processo de entrada na Casa de Acolhimento. Relatam esta experiência com sentimentos de tristeza, angústia e medo. No presente estudo, foram entrevistados 13 jovens do sexo masculino, com idades entre os 12 e os 19 anos. Verificou-se que, para 63%, (n=9), dos jovens a institucionalização representou estupefação e surpresa, admitindo mesmo que não lhes foi explicado o motivo do Acolhimento Residencial. Neste âmbito, a separação do ambiente conhecido e a chegada à instituição implica sentimentos de perda, angústia e, muitas vezes, um intenso sentimento de culpa e necessidade de recuperar o ambiente perdido. Contudo, a análise das entrevistas também permitiu identificar experiências positivas em termos de proteção e oportunidades de socialização. | dc.description.abstract | The present work intends to contribute to the deepening of knowledge about the experiences associated with residential care and the impact of the care process, through the eyes of children and young people who were removed from their biological families because they were in situations of danger. In Portugal there are many children and young people at risk/danger. According to the Casa Report, in 2020 there were 6706 children and young people in Portugal in foster care. Often the main cause for risk/danger situations in which they find themselves refers to family factors. According to the literature, children and young people report having had a negative experience in the process of entering the Shelter. They report this experience with feelings of sadness, anguish and fear. In the present study, 13 young men, aged between 12 and 19 years old, were interviewed. It was found that, for 63% (n=9), of the young people, institutionalization represented stupefaction and surprise, even admitting that the reason for the Residential Reception was not explained to them. In this context, separation from the familiar environment and arrival at the institution implies feelings of loss, anguish and, often, an intense feeling of guilt and the need to recover the lost environment. However, the analysis of the interviews also made it possible to identify positive experiences in terms of protection and opportunities for socialization. It is concluded that most young people, institutionalization was positive ('it was good'; 'I was very well received'; 'I like being here'; 'it was the best'). | pt_PT |
