Abstract(s)
Introdução: Ser familiar cuidador de um idoso dependente é uma situação
complexa, com grande desgaste físico e emocional, muitas vezes acarreta uma
sobrecarga para o familiar cuidador, comprometendo a sua vida pessoal e familiar
trazendo repercussões negativas na saúde de ambos.
Objetivos: Determinar a sobrecarga dos familiares cuidadores de idosos
dependentes na Região de Lafões e identificar as variáveis independentes que
influenciam o nível de sobrecarga.
Metodologia: Realizou-se um estudo de natureza quantitativa, descritivo e
transversal, entre julho e agosto de 2021, nos concelhos de Oliveira de Frades, São
Pedro do Sul e Vouzela. Trata-se de um estudo realizado numa amostra não
probabilística, de conveniência, constituída por 32 familiares cuidadores de idosos
dependentes, referenciados pelas equipas de saúde familiar e os profissionais que
integram as Unidades de Cuidados na Comunidade.
Resultados: Os familiares cuidadores revelam níveis intensos de sobrecarga. A
sobrecarga apresentada, e de acordo com os fatores de sobrecarga da ESC, é tanto
objetiva como subjetiva. As variáveis independentes que exercem influência na variável
dependente são a perceção do estado de saúde, a realização de atividades de lazer; as
atividades que o cuidador deixou de realizar quando se tornou cuidador e o género do
familiar cuidador.
Conclusão: É fundamental estabelecer estratégias de intervenção direcionadas
às necessidades dos cuidadores familiares, reconhecendo-os como parceiros
fundamentais para a prestação de cuidados de qualidade, indo de encontro às
necessidades especificas do idoso dependente.

Abstract Introduction: Being a family caregiver of a dependent elderly person is a complex situation, with great physical and emotional wear, often entails an overload for the family caregiver, compromising their personal and family life, bringing negative repercussions on the health of both. Objectives: To determine the burden of family caregivers of dependent elderly people in the Region of Lafões and to identify the independent variables that influence the level of burden. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out between July and August 2021, in the municipalities of Oliveira de Frades, São Pedro do Sul and Vouzela. This is a study carried out in a non-probabilistic, convenience sample, consisting of 32 family caregivers of dependent elderly people, referenced by family health teams and professionals who make up the Community Care Units. Results: Family caregivers reveal intense levels of burden. The presented overload, and according to the ESC overload factors, is both objective and subjective. The independent variables that influence the dependent variable are the perception of health status, the performance of leisure activities; the activities that the caregiver failed to perform when he became a caregiver and the gender of the family caregiver. Conclusion: It is essential to establish intervention strategies aimed at the needs of family caregivers, recognizing them as essential partners for the provision of quality care, meeting the specific needs of the dependent elderly.
