dc.description.abstractLearning disabilities reflect a biopsychosocial disharmony of the child’s global development, which often involves factors inherent to a psychomotor profile disorganization. This project aimed to understand the impact of a psychomotor intervention on motor and behavioral skills development in children with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). The objectives of the study were to identify the motor and behavioral difficulties of 5 children from the 1st cycle of basic education diagnosed with SLD; to design an intervention plan according to the needs, abilities and interests of each child; and to characterize the evolution of their motor and behavioral skills during a psychomotor intervention. This is an action research study, supported by different data collection techniques, including document analysis, semi-structured interviews with teachers, naturalistic and systematic observation of student behavior during the intervention, and also the Vítor da Fonseca Psychomotor Battery. The intervention and post-test were affected by the successive COVID-19 confinements. Nevertheless, when the impact of the intervention was assessed, improvements were registered for a certain factor in some students, contrary to the results obtained for the others, a situation that can be explained by the fact that, although they all have the same diagnosis, they are at different development stages for the same factor. Despite the impossibility of generalizing the results, there are some patterns of improvement in spatialtemporal structuring, body awareness, global and fine praxis, memory, practical reasoning and attentional factors in different students. These data corroborate some studies and prove that, between advances and setbacks in students’ psychomotor skills, any progress, however small, is a major achievement in psychomotor skills. Finally, it is important to emphasize the need to expand the sample, as well as to ensure the continuity and duration of the intervention, thus strengthening the results now obtained.
