Abstract(s)
Os fundos estruturais são hoje uma das grandes bandeiras da União Europeia e têm como
principal objetivo a coesão territorial entre as várias regiões dos Estados Membros.
Portugal apresenta enormes disparidades entre regiões, nomeadamente entre o litoral e o
interior, que se têm vindo a acentuar ao longo dos últimos anos. O concelho de Lamego é
um território de baixa densidade, que enfrenta os problemas inerentes à interioridade, perda
de população, taxas de natalidade reduzidas e uma capacidade de atração de novos
investimentos muito reduzida.
Os fundos comunitários podem ser a grande alavanca para estimular a economia e gerar
desenvolvimento. A abordagem deste estudo vai centrar-se essencialmente em perceber o
que os fundos comunitários representam para o concelho e quais os efeitos que estes estão a
provocar na economia e na vida das pessoas.
The structural funds are today one of the great flags of the European Union and their main objective is territorial cohesion between the different regions of Member States. Portugal also presents enormous disparities between regions, namely between the coast and the interior, being the municipality of Lamego, a low-density territory, which faces the problems inherent to the interior, population loss, low birth rates and a capacity to attract new investments greatly reduced. Community funds can be a great lever to stimulate the economy and generate development. The approach of this study will essentially focus on understanding what community funds represent for the municipality and what effects they are having on the economy and on people's lives.
