Esta dissertação documenta e analisa o património heráldico da cidade de Lamego, focando nas pedras de armas que representam a memória histórica das famílias nobres e eclesiásticas que moldaram o desenvolvimento urbano e cultural da região. O estudo mapeia 22 exemplares heráldicos, categorizados em três grupos: heráldica nacional, eclesiástica e familiar, realizando uma análise qualitativa através do método de estudo de caso com extensivo trabalho documental e de campo.
A pesquisa revela a importância histórica dos símbolos heráldicos como registos da influência das famílias nobres e dos bispos no desenvolvimento de Lamego, identificando padrões nas representações e documentando o estado atual de conservação deste património. Com base nos resultados, propõe-se a criação da "Rota dos Nobres e Bispos", um roteiro turístico estruturado com métodos interpretativos inovadores e recursos de acessibilidade.
A principal contribuição deste trabalho é a valorização do património heráldico como elemento identitário e recurso turístico sustentável, conectando os dois centros históricos da cidade através de uma experiência cultural inclusiva. O estudo demonstra como a preservação da heráldica local pode simultaneamente resgatar a memória histórica e promover o desenvolvimento turístico sustentável, servindo como modelo para iniciativas semelhantes em outras localidades históricas portuguesas
This dissertation documents and analyzes the heraldic heritage of the city of Lamego, focusing on the coats of arms that represent the historical memory of the noble and ecclesiastical families that shaped the urban and cultural development of the region. The study maps 22 heraldic examples, categorized into three groups: national, ecclesiastical and family heraldry, carrying out a qualitative analysis through the case study method with extensive fieldwork. The research reveals the historical importance of heraldic symbols as records of the influence of noble families and bishops on the development of Lamego, identifying patterns in the representations and documenting the current state of conservation of this heritage. Based on the results, the proposal is to create the "Rota dos Nobres e Bispos", a tourist itinerary structured with innovative interpretative methods and accessibility resources. The main contribution of this work is the valorization of heraldic heritage as an identity element and sustainable tourism resource, connecting the two historic centers of the city through an inclusive cultural experience. The study demonstrates how the preservation of local heraldry can simultaneously rescue historical memory and promote sustainable tourism development, serving as a model for similar initiatives in other Portuguese historical locations.
