Abstract(s)
Nowadays the technologies have an increasingly important role in society and as we face an increase in aging population. It is imperative to find solutions and implement measures to overcome the social challenges that this technological gap may cause. It’s undeniable that ICT have a increasing role in contemporary societies, so it’s imperative that the individuals have the minimum skills for their use. Studies on this subject identify senior’s population as the one that on average uses less technology. It is important to build a fairer society and one that encourages solidarity and respect among its members, to that end it is necessary to design measures that promote the use of technologies by everybody and to decrease senior's infoexclusion.
The MaQueIsto project was part of the research on active aging and Information Communication Technology (ICT) of the DigiMedia Research Center at the University of Aveiro. This research intended to identify the challenges that senior citizens systematically face, when using information and communication technologies. Or even when they try to access to multiple services indispensable to their daily lives, such as ATM, electronic mail, services of finance, among others.
Inspired on this thematic was produced the documentary: MaQueIsto - Senior and challenges of technology. It were also identified some guidelines for the production of this documentary.
