Abstract(s)
Neste âmbito, as evidências científicas
Metodologia: Estudo quantitativo do tipo exploratório e descritivo-correlacional.
superiores do corpo.

Abstract Introduction: The positioning of preterm newborns (PTNB) during hospitalization in a NICU has an impact on their sleep, comfort, ventilation and development of the musculoskeletal system, among others, improving their adaptive responses to the extrauterine environment. In this context, scientific evidence demonstrates that the implementation of protocols and positioning scales are tools that facilitate the standardization of this action, with an impact on the quality of Nursing care. Objectives: To evaluate nurses' practices in positioning PTNBs, through the application of the IPAT-PT scale; To Relate the age, training of nurses and professional experience in Neonatology with the positioning practices of the PTNBs. Methodology: Quantitative exploratory and descriptive-correlational study. Type of nonrandom sampling for convenience, consisting of 22 CHUC Neonatology nurses with at least 2 years of experience in the NICU and who previously completed FINE 1 training, within the scope of care focused on the development of the NB, which includes training on positioning . The data collection instrument was the IPAT-PT scale validated for the Portuguese population by Cruz et al (2023), which included a questionnaire characterizing the RNs and nurses who agreed to participate in the study. 70 observations of the positioning of PTNBs were carried out during the month of July 2023. The study was approved from the Ethics Committee. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS statistical program, version 28.0.0. Results: The sample was predominantly female (81%), aged between 28 and 60 years, with an average number of years of experience in Neonatology of 14.91. The average score obtained by observing positioning using IPAT-PT was 6.83, indicating inadequate positioning, especially in the upper areas of the body. No significant relationship was found between the various variables under study. Conclusion: The study allowed us to determine that positioning practices are not appropriate and are independent of the variables under study. It is intended that this work will continue a project of continuous improvement in the Neonatology service, in this context and that it will contribute, not only to the optimization of this clinical practice, but also to scientific research in nursing.
