Abstract(s)
Na atualidade cada vez mais a nossa sociedade dá ênfase ao bem-estar e ao desenvolvimento integral da criança/jovem, sendo que toda a legislação que envolve esta população é imprescindível de modo a ser possível garantir-lhes os seus direitos. Garantir a sua efetivação é uma forma de lutar contra os maus tratos a que crianças/jovens podem ser expostos, pelo que esta garantia é um dever reconhecido pela sociedade.
O presente estudo visou perceber como os jovens institucionalizados se posicionam perante a instituição, escola, perspetivas de futuro e satisfação com a vida, tendo sido realizada uma investigação de cariz qualitativa, utilizando um Instrumento de Inquérito por Questionário e uma Escala de Satisfação com a Vida designada por Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) sendo esta traduzida e aferida para a população portuguesa pelo autor Simões (1992). O presente estudo, contou com uma amostra de
11 sujeitos institucionalizados com idades entre os 11 e os 22 anos, sendo 5 do género feminino e 6 do género masculino. Em termos de resultados, conclui-se que para a generalidade dos jovens a instituição trabalha em prol do que realmente gostam e, em termos escolares consideram que é um meio propício para um melhor futuro. Referente às perspetivas de futuro concluiu-se que a maior parte dos inquiridos tem definidos os seus objetivos de vida, obtendo-se respostas direcionadas para as questões profissionais. Para a satisfação com a vida aferiu-se que mais de metade dos inquiridos apresenta médias acima do valor médio de 2,5, concluindo-se que, no geral, os jovens se sentem satisfeitos com a sua vida.
Nowadays, our society increasingly emphasizes the well-being and integral development of the child/young people, and all the legislation that involves this population is essential in order to be able to guarantee their rights. Ensuring that effectiveness is a way of combating mistreatment to which children / young people can be exposed, that’s the reason why this guarantee is a duty recognized by society. The present study aimed to understand how institutionalized young people look to the institution, the school, perspectives of the future and satisfaction with life, a qualitative research was carried out, using a Questionnaire Survey Instrument and a Designated Life Satisfaction Scale by Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) translated and measured for the Portuguese population by the author Simões (1992). This study considered a sample of 11 institutionalized people, ages between 11 and 22, 5 of which were female and 6 were male. As a result, the conclusion is that for young people the institution works in favor of what they really like and school wise they consider it´s a very suitable way to achieve a better future. Regarding future perspectives, it was concluded that the respondents have defined their life goals, obtaining directed answers to professional issues. Concerning satisfaction with life, it was confirmed that more than half of the respondents present results above average, value of 2.5, concluding in general that young people feel satisfied with their lives.
