A empresa Carvalho Oliveira & Filhos II -
obtidos.
The growing interest in the digitalization of business processes reflects the recognition of the need to transform traditional operations into automated workflows through digital technologies. Carvalho Oliveira & Filhos II – Iluminações Lda., a small family-owned company, initiated its digitalization process through the implementation of an ERP system, adopting the Odoo software. This dissertation analyses the implementation of the Odoo ERP system in this company. Odoo is a modular, cloud-based software solution delivered under the SaaS model. The study is structured around three sequential and complementary dimensions corresponding to three stages of the ERP life cycle: the evaluation of the adoption decision, the implementation process, and the organisational impacts arising from its use. In the first phase, the quality of the ERP adoption decision was evaluated a posteriori using the AHP and PROMETHEE multicriteria methods, which confirmed Odoo as the most suitable alternative, demonstrating the robustness and consistency of the decision made. Subsequently, the implementation process was monitored, involving system configuration, inventory module configuration, and data standardisation and migration, including the creation and coding of inventory items and stock validation, thereby contributing to information reliability and the integration of the company's business processes. Finally, a qualitative case study was conducted based on semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, using data triangulation. Content analysis, supported by the NVivo software and the pattern matching technique, revealed that the ERP's principal impact lies in improving operational performance, particularly in inventory management and information reliability. Innovation emerged as a more limited outcome, while the environmental sustainability benefits remain largely potential. It is concluded that the ERP functions as a platform supporting organisational processes, generating operational improvements that enhance business adaptability and sustainability. The study further demonstrates that the value generated by the ERP varies according to users' organisational roles and positions, confirms the existence of a learning curve in the context of a microenterprise, and enables the refinement of the conceptual model based on the empirical findings.
