Abstract(s)
(2) An´alise de Estruturas.
em C++.
A maior
ABSTRACT: The dissertation presents a study on the influence of the vertical location of a swimming pool in a building subject to a seismic action. The pool can represent a unique feature and meet market demand requirements. The pool’s position in the building can have a significant impact on construction costs. For the study, two computer aplications were developed: (1) Seismic Action; and (2) Structural Analysis. The modal superposition method is implemented in the first program, and the displacement method in the second, both written in C++. The case study involves examining four buildings with 5, 9, 15, and 19 floors of equal dimensions in plan, with the pool located on the ground floor, the first floor, the mid-level floor, or the top floor. The results indicate that the pool affects the value of lateral forces. The most sig nificant impact occurs when the pool is on the first floor of the buildings, regardless of their height. The 9-story building with the pool located on the mid-level and top floor had the best performance against seismic action, with the smallest variation of forces compared to the building with the pool on the ground floor (without a pool).
