O presente trabalho, vinculando literatura e filosofia, objetiva analisar a relação dualista existente entre Deus e o Diabo no Grande sertão: veredas, de João Guimarães Rosa, procurando contrastar uma interpretação maniqueísta que comumente se faz, haja vista não estarem bem definidos e delimitados esses dois signos na narrativa em questão. Por meio de repetições contraditórias, Riobaldo, o narrador-protagonista, questiona a existência e a atuação/operância dessas forças que perpassam as mesmas veredas. Deus existe, porém é muito passivo, deixando quase todo o protagonismo para o ser humano, detentor da liberdade. E o Diabo, paradoxalmente, amedronta, mas não existe: a despeito de sugerir uma dimensão metafísico-ontológica, surge como algo demasiado humano, representação das más ações humanas. Inconformado, Riobaldo insiste em reclamar uma justa separação entre o que é bom e o que é mau, mas não consegue, pois está tudo muito misturado. Assim, pretendemos demonstrar que não há maniqueísmo nessa tessitura porque não há um dualismo radical na concepção do Bem e do Mal; não se constituem como absolutamente distinto-antagônicos.
Abstract Abstract: The present work, linking literature and philosophy, aims to analyse the dualistic relationship between God and the Devil in Grande Sertão: Veredas, by João Guimarães Rosa, trying to contrast a maniqueist interpretation commonly done, considering that those two signs are not well defined and delimited in the mentioned narrative. Through contradictory repetitions, Riobaldo, the narrator-protagonist, questions the existence and the acting/performance of those forces that pervade the same paths. God exists, but he is very passive, leaving almost all the protagonism for the human being, holder of freedom. And the Devil, paradoxically, scares, but he does not exist: despite suggesting a metaphysical-ontological dimension, he appears as too human, the representation of the bad human actions. Discontented, Riobaldo insists on claiming a fair separation between what is good and what is bad, but he realizes it is impossible, because everything is very mixed. Thus, we intend to demonstrate that there is no manichaeism in that contexture, because there is not a radical dualism in the conception of Good and Evil; they are not absolutely distinct-antagonistic.
