Enquadramento: O fisioterapeuta, durante a execução das suas actividades profissionais,
está exposto a cargas emocionais e físicas que o leva muitas vezes a um estado
de exaustão emocional conhecido por Burnout
Objectivos: Determinar a prevalência dos índices de burnout nos fisioterapeutas a
trabalhar nos hospitais da Região de Saúde do Centro, determinar a influência das variáveis
socio demográficas e profissionais e avaliar a influência das variáveis psicológicas no síndrome
de Burnout
Métodos: Estudo observacional, transversal, descritivo correlacional e analítico realizado
numa amostra não probabilística por conveniência constituída por 85 fisioterapeutas
a exercerem funções nos Hospitais da Administração Regional de Saúde do Centro. Usouse
um questionário que integra um conjunto de questões direccionado a recolher dados
sócio- demográficos e profissionais e pelas escalas de afectos positivos e negativos
(PANAS), de personalidade de Eysenk, de Satisfação no Trabalho e o Inventario de Maslach
Burnout (MBI).
Resultados: A amostra é constituída maioritariamente pelo sexo feminino (84%),
apresentando uma idade média de 39 anos, na sua maioria casados (57.6%), com tempo
de serviço inferior ou igual a 12 anos (36.4%) e com vínculo à função pública. (53%).A
maior percentagem dos participantes da amostra (45%) exibe exaustão moderada e cerca
de quatro em dez elevada exaustão. A primeira e única variável a tornar-se preditora da
exaustão emocional e da realização pessoal é o balanço afectivo. As variáveis preditoras da
despersonalização são o neuroticismo, a extroversão e a satisfação no trabalho .
Conclusão: O estado de burnout dos fisioterapeutas revela-se muito alto e concluise
que os factores preditores deste síndrome são a balanço afectivo ,o neuroticismo, a
extroversão e a satisfação com o trabalho.

It used a questionnaire that includes a set of questions aimed to collect socio-demographic and professional data and the scales of positive and negative segments (PANAS), the Eysenck Personality, Job Satisfaction and Maslach Burnout inventory (MBI). Results: The sample is composed mostly of females (84%), with a mean age of 39 years in mostly married (57.6%), with service time less than or equal to 12 years (36.4%) and with ties to the pub-lic function. (53%). A higher percentage of participants in the sample (45%) displays moderate depletion and nearly four in ten high exhaustion. The first and only variable to become a predictor of emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment is the emotional balance. Predictors of depersonalization are neuroticism, extroversion and job satisfaction. Conclusion: The state of burnout of physical therapists proves to be very high and it is concluded that the predictive factors of this syndrome are the emotional swing, neuroticism, and extraversion and job satisfaction.
