Abstract(s)
Quando inesperadamente a morte inverte o ciclo vital, esta afigura-se habitualmente
como um cataclismo na vida das pessoas. O conhecimento da perda gestacional
frequentemente ocorre em ambiente hospitalar implicando o envolvimento de profissionais
de saúde, e nomeadamente do Enfermeiro Especialista de Saúde Materna e Obstétrica. Faz
parte da sua missão prestar cuidados de enfermagem dignos e culturalmente congruentes,
assumindo as suas responsabilidades, aprofundando conhecimentos e adquirindo
competências, pois a sua atuação influencia a forma como as mulheres/casais vivenciam
essa perda e a forma como a ultrapassam.
Este estudo tem como objetivos: Compreender o significado atribuído pelos
enfermeiros ao cuidar em situação de perda gestacional e processo de luto; Compreender
as reações/ações dos enfermeiros perante casais que vivenciam uma situação de perda
gestacional; Identificar os constrangimentos vividos pelos enfermeiros no cuidar em situação
de perda gestacional e Identificar as necessidades de formação dos enfermeiros para cuidar
em situação de perda gestacional.
A presente investigação insere-se no paradigma qualitativo, com uma abordagem
fenomenológica. A amostra é constituída por 10 enfermeiros Especialistas de Saúde
Materna a exercer funções na Maternidade Bissaya Barreto. O instrumento de colheita de
dados utilizado foi a entrevista semi-estruturada. Na análise recorreu-se ao método
fenomenológico de Max van Manen.
A perda gestacional é encarada pelos enfermeiros como a perda de um sonho, a
quebra de expectativas que a grávida/casal tinha, um projeto a dois que fica inacabado. Esta
situação provoca sentimentos de frustração e incómodo e leva os profissionais a
questionarem-se sobre as atitudes a ter. Referem dificuldades em gerir os seus sentimentos
e não saberem o que fazer para ajudar. Consideram a formação nesta área muito
importante para poder ajudar os pais enlutados referindo que a experiência e as
características pessoais são determinantes na sua prestação de cuidados.

Abstract When death unexpectedly reverses life cycle, this usually appears as a cataclysm in people’s lives. The acknowledging of pregnancy loss often occurs in hospitals implying the involvement of health professionals, and in particular the Maternal Health and Obstetric Specialist Nurse. It is part of his/her mission to provide nursing care worthy and culturally congruent, assuming its responsibilities, deepening knowledge and acquiring skills, since that performance influences the way women / couples experience this loss and how to get over it. This study aims to understand the meaning given by nurses to take care in situations of pregnancy loss and grieving process; to understand reactions / actions of nurses towards couples who experience a pregnancy loss situation; to identify the constraints faced by nurses in caring for pregnancy loss situation and to identify the training needs of nurses to care in situations of pregnancy loss. The present research falls within the qualitative paradigm, with a phenomenological approach. The sample consists of 10 nurses Maternal Health Specialists working in the Maternidade Bissaya Barreto. The data collection instrument used was a semi-structured interview. In the analysis it was used the phenomenological method of Max van Manen. A pregnancy loss is viewed by nurses as the loss of a dream, breaking expectations that the woman / couple had a project together that is unfinished. This causes feelings of frustration and annoyance and leads professionals to ask themselves about the attitudes they should have. They report difficulties in managing their feelings and not knowing what to do to help. Nurses consider training in this area very important in order to provide them skills to help bereaved parents, according to their personal experiences. Keywords: Gestational Loss; Nurse; Nursing.
