Este trabalho analisa personagens, situações, sentimentos e alguns conceitos como intertextualidade e racismo, que são apresentados em As vésperas esquecidas de Maria Isabel Barreno. Ao descrever uma breve biografia e o encontro de três personagens que aparentemente não têm nada que os ligue, acaba entrelaçando os seus destinos com o final da ditadura e do regime salazarista em Portugal, que culmina na Revolução de 25 de abril. A Revolução dos Cravos acaba sendo o grande personagem da história, já que os aproxima; sem ela as suas vidas não se entrecruzariam. Trata-se de um acontecimento que, ao perpassar a vida de todos eles, acaba por ser o coroamento de algo que neles se achava latente, ainda que fosse um sentimento vago e não totalmente reconhecido.
Abstract This paper analyses characters, situations, feelings and some concepts such as intertextuality and racism, that are presented in As vésperas esquecidas (The forgotten eve) by Maria Isabel Barreno. When describing a brief biography and the meeting of three characters who seemingly have nothing to connect them, she ends up entwining their destinies with the end of the dictatorship and of the Salazar regime in Portugal, which culminates in the Revolution of April 25. The Carnation Revolution ends up as the main character in the story, since it draws the three characters closer to each other; without it their lives wouldn’t have been interconnected. It’s an event that, by pervading the lives of all of them, turns out to be the crowning of something latent in them, although it might be a vague and not fully recognized feeling.
