| dc.description.abstract | A investigação sobre as potencialidades do suporte social em famílias de crianças com necessidades educativas especiais tem vindo a sustentar que este construto influencia vários aspetos do funcionamento parental e familiar, nomeadamente, as dimensões relacionadas com a saúde e bem-estar dos pais. O presente estudo tem como objetivos: i) proceder a uma análise comparativa dos pais de crianças com e sem necessidades educativas especiais, no que concerne ao suporte social e ao bem-estar parental (satisfação com a vida); ii) compreender as relações entre as variáveis de suporte social e o bem-estar; iii) analisar a dimensão preditiva do suporte social relativamente ao bem-estar (satisfação com a vida). A amostra do presente estudo é constituída por 301 pais ou cuidadores de crianças com e sem Necessidades Educativas Especiais, respectivamente 152 e 149 progenitores. Os resultados revelam que existem correlações significativas e positivas entre o suporte social e o bem-estar (na dimensão satisfação com a vida). As análises diferenciais mostram que os dois grupos de pais apresentam diferenças significativas no bem-estar e, parcialmente, no suporte social (satisfação com o suporte). Relativamente aos subgrupos de pais de crianças com Necessidades Educativas Especiais (limitações cognitivas, limitações nas funções motoras e Perturbações do Espectro do Autismo) observamos diferenças estatísticas; os progenitores das crianças com autismo revelam valores significativamente mais elevados no suporte social (disponibilidade do suporte e satisfação com o suporte) e na satisfação com a vida. | dc.description.abstract | Research on the potential of social support in families of children with special education needs has been argued that this construct influences various aspects of parental and family functioning, including the dimensions related to health and well- -being of parents. The present study aims to: i) conduct a comparative analysis of parents of children with and without special needs, in relation to social support and parental well-being (life satisfaction); ii) understanding the relationships between variables of social support and welfare; iii) analyze the predictive dimension of social support for the well-being (life satisfaction). The study sample consists of 301 parents or caregivers of children with and without SEN, respectively 152 and 149 parents. The results show that there are significant and positive correlations between social support and well-being (in life satisfaction scale). Analyzes statistics show that the two parents groups have significant differences in welfare and partly on social support (satisfaction with support). For subgroups of parents of children with Special Education Needs (cognitive limitations, limitations in motor functions and Autism Spectrum Disorders) we observed statistically significant differences; parents of children with autism showed significantly higher values in social support (availability of support and satisfaction of support) and satisfaction of life.
