ABSTRACT This teaching practice report contains an initial approach to the Supervised Teaching Practices II and III and presents a reflection about the entire professional course developed in Primary Education and Early Childhood Education. We describe the context in which those practices were developed and analyze the achieved procedures. We also present the research developed in a public kindergarten in the district of Viseu with a group of 6 children aged 5 years old. Our goal was to understand how children in those age ranges develop their ability to solve problems, specifically the notion of combination, using aneducational software, namely ClicMat. Methodologically, this research is a qualitative Case Study, held by a participant observation, interviews and children productions conceived during the proposed tasks. This research allowed us to conclude that the educational software is of great value to the development of skills concerning solving problems and mathematical communication. These mathematician processes are of great importance in learning, because through them children developed new strategies in solving problems.
