Abstract(s)
O turismo é uma atividade com grande impacto nas regiões e nas
comunidades locais. O crescimento desta atividade e os consequentes efeitos,
positivos e negativos, tornam-se alvo de diversos e importantes estudos nas várias
Ciências Sociais. Na verdade, o turismo gera impactos sociais, cultuais, económicos
e ambientais que variam de acordo com o contexto, o destino e a sensibilização dos
agentes envolvidos.
Para um destino ser bem-sucedido no que concerne à sua atratividade e
imagem turística, tem de conhecer os efeitos dessa atividade e desenvolver um
conjunto de ações que garantam minimizar os negativos e maximizar os positivos
e garantir os recursos para as gerações futuras, envolvendo todos os atores locais
nesse processo. Promover o turismo sustentável é otimizar os benefícios das
localidades turísticas e fomentar uma maior sensibilização acerca de ações
ecologicamente corretas que são esperadas quer da população local, quer dos seus
visitantes.
Neste contexto, o objetivo principal da presente investigação é analisar a
perceção dos residentes em relação aos impactos do turismo no concelho de
Vouzela. Simultaneamente também caracterizar o concelho a nível de
sustentabilidade com o objetivo de obter a certificação da Biosphere Responsible
Tourism.
Os resultados da presente investigação contribuem consideravelmente para
que as entidades, públicas e privadas, com responsabilidades no desenvolvimento
do turismo na região, possam implementar medidas que maximizem os benefícios,
minimizem os prejuízos do desenvolvimento do turismo no concelho de Vouzela e
com isso contribuir para obtenção da certificação pela Biosphere Responsible
Tourism.
Do ponto de vista das implicações teóricas, este trabalho dá um contributo
à Ciência através do aprofundamento das temáticas dos impactos do turismo e da
sustentabilidade, temas de enorme relevância e atualidade tendo em conta a
importância da atividade turística para os territórios de baixa densidade.
O trabalho apresenta ainda limitações e define algumas linhas para
investigação futura.
ABSTRACT: Tourism is an activity with a great impact on regions and local communities. The growth of this activity and the consequent positive and negative effects, become the target of several and important studies in the various Social Sciences. In fact, tourism generates social, cultural, economic and environmental impacts that vary according to the context, destination and awareness of the agents involved. For a destination to be successful in terms of its attractiveness and tourist image, it has to know the effects of this activity and develop a set of actions that guarantee the minimization of the negatives and the maximization of the positives and that guarantee the resources for future generations, involving all local actors in this process. Promoting sustainable tourism is optimizing the benefits of tourist locations and promoting greater awareness of ecologically correct actions that are expected of both the local population and its visitors. In this context, the main objective of this investigation is to analyze the perception of residents in relation to the impacts of tourism in the municipality of Vouzela. At the same time, it is also intended to characterize the municipality in terms of sustainability in order to obtain certification from Biosphere Responsible Tourism. It is intended that the results of this investigation can contribute considerably so that public and private entities, with responsibilities in the development of tourism in the region, can implement measures that maximize the benefits, minimize the damage to the development of tourism in the municipality of Vouzela and with this contribute to obtaining certification by Biosphere Responsible Tourism. From the point of view of theoretical implications, it is intended to make a contribution to Science by deepening the themes of the impacts of tourism and sustainability, topics of enormous relevance and topicality taking into account the importance of tourist activity for low-density territories. The work also presents limitations and defines some lines for future investigation.
